To answer question no. 1, please read, "Decision nears in shooting of teen," in the left column of page A1.

1.  According to Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo, what police investigation is now finished? Why is the timing of the announcement significant? The story says that the police have three options as a response to the investigative report. What are they? What has to happen for  the investigation's findings be made public?

To answer question no. 2, please read, "Citizenship battle cry: ‘Donald Trump never!’" in the right middle portion of page A1.

2.  Why is Hortensia Villegas, her sister, her parents and her husband's parents all rushing to become U.S. citizens? What larger trend does this family's actions illustrate? How has President Obama (and nonprofit groups) made it easier for families like the Villegas family to take action? Mr. Trump did not respond to the reporter's request from comment, but if he did respond, what do you think he would have said about this trend?

To answer question no. 3, please read, "Officials: Oil slump curbs regulation," at the top of page A1.

3.  According to the story, why is the Texas Railroad Commission struggling lately to accomplish its core mission: to regulate the state oil industry? What are commission leaders telling conservatives in the legislature might happen if something isn't done to fix the problem?

To answer question no. 4, please read, "Private funeral set for Nancy Reagan," at the top of page A2.

4.  Why did President Obama order that flags be flown at half mast on all federal buildings? Where is Michelle Obama going to be on Friday? Given the president's comments on this subject why is it appropriate that Ms. Obama attend the Friday event? What is the legacy of the person begin remembered at the event? What work did she spend the last 15 years of her life doing?

To answer question no. 5, please read, "Jury awards $55M in nude-video suit," at the top left of page A3.

5.  What jury finding led to a $55 million award for sports journalist Erin Andrews? According to the story, what testimony did Andrews' parents make during the trial?  Who specifically was found guilty in this verdict and how is the $55 million sum going to be paid? How did the guilty parties respond to this verdict? Do you think this distribution of guilt (and payment responsibility) is as it should be?

[There is a column by Kansas City Star columnist Mary Sanchez about this verdict (on page A11) that I found worth the read. Not exactly uplifting reading for International Women's Day, but the issues she raises about this case are I think important to consider.]

To answer question no. 4, please read, "States must recognize gay parent adoptions," at the top of page A5.

6. Monday was another good day for historic progress for gay Americans. What landmark decision was announced by the Supreme Court and what precedent is now established as a result? What Alabama action led to this case being filed in the first place? What was the vote of the court? What part of the process did they skip because the justices had already made up their mind (rather emphatically it seems)?
