Last class period, we talked about news values. If you want to review the values, I have posted the link to them below.
Defining News Judgement Presentation
Again, many of you did this in class, but if you were not there on Thursday, then use the link below to download the note-taking outline and write the correct news value with each definition.

Let's make a village of blog cabins!
Journalism 1 2015-2016
Hello and welcome to the online resource for Mac-J1!!
We will be using Blogger to publish and post all of our assignments on the Internet. This way all course assignments and all of your submitted work will be archived in a safe place. We will save paper, you will always have a place to review assignments when you are absent, and I will never misplace an assignment (or an entire folder of submitted assignments) ever again!
To accomplish this paperless (more organized) classroom, we have to set up an Blogger account for you: Please follow the instructions below carefully. It's important that you do each step correctly and that you remember all the vital information so you can log back onto your blog later.
What you will need
· Internet access
· An email account
ASSIGNMENT 1 – Create a Blogger account
Open Safari - you can use Mozilla Firefox, but sometimes the interface between the Macintosh computers and Firefox can cause problems. Safari is the native internet browser for Macintosh, so its the one I recommend.
· Go to http://www.blogger.com/
· Click on the orange "Sign Up" box at the top right of your screen - if you have a gmail - this will be really easy because blogger is a gmail product.
In “Step One”
· Enter your email address
· Enter a password and WRITE IT DOWN
· Enter a display name – Do NOT use your full real name. To be safe, we will keep our blogs semi-anonymous - I recommend you do something like Firstname_lastinitial_blog, or something similar. No one can see this unless you leave your computer logged in on accident, but let's be safe and keep your last name off the blog.
· Enter the word verification
· Click on the “accept terms box, and hit continue·
· If there are any problems, they will show up in red.· Fix the problems
In “Step Two”
· In the blog title box, enter “first name’s Journalism Blog” (Ex Michael’s Journalism Blog) - this is what will show up at the top of your blog - My blog is called McCallum Journalism. The blog's address is mac-j1.blogspot.com.
· In the (URL) box, enter the same thing as the title, but with no spaces or apostrophe (Ex: mattsjournalismblog) - this URL can be seen by anyone, so please keep it school appropriate.
· Hit “Check Availability”
· If it is available, hit continue. If it is not, select one of the suggestions, and then hit continue.
· Select a template and hit continue·

We had lots of problems using the school wireless account on the computers in the photojournalism class. I think it's because all the wireless computers are using the same ITP address. If you run into trouble (an error message that says, "The page you requested is invalid," then you can try these options:
Download the Blogger phone app to your phone and try to create your blog there.
Wait until you get home (or off campus) and try to create your blog away from the school computers.
After you successfully create your blog, make your first post.
ASSIGNMENT 2: MAKE YOUR FIRST BLOG POST!
Now make your first post on your new blog:
Hit “Start Posting”
Type “Welcome to my blog” in the post subject line, and hit “Publish Now”
Click on “View Blog” to see the results.
Select and copy the web address (URL) of your new blog
(ex: michaelsphotojournalismblog.blogspot.com)
Open your email - either gmail directly from Blogger, or open the one you use (i.e. yahoo or hotmail)
